“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Answering the call.

Becoming a chaplain is a noble and selfless vocation - a calling to serve others before one’s self. A chaplain is there for us to share in our times of thanksgiving and celebrations, but can also be there for us during our most trying of moments. It is during these times where many people need a chaplain’s support and to feel the comfort that can only be ministered by the peace of God. By being the hands and feet of Christ here within our communities, we can share the love of God with those in whom the Holy Spirit guides us to.

Have you felt within your own spirit the desire to be a part of something where you could minister the Word of God and be a beacon of love and light to people in their times of need? If so, perhaps the Lord is guiding you to become a chaplain! Different from a pastor or minister who are attached to a specific church and denomination, a chaplain serves in the community to peoples of all religions and backgrounds. Through certified training, chaplaincy offers the opportunity to serve professionally in their areas of interest as lead by the Holy Spirit.

  1. Note: Chaplaincy through Soldiers of Christ Ministries is a REFERRAL BASED program. Applicants must be referred by a current SOC Chaplain. This method not only provides the ministry with quality applicants in the vetting process, but also ensures you have access to important discipleship and mentorship training available near you. If you have been referred by a current SOC Chaplain please complete the online application below and click submit (This application will take some time to complete).

  2. Select the option button below to pay for your background check to be administered.  The cost to cover your background check is $75.00. Some counties do charge an additional fee for accessing their records during a background check and those costs do vary. As such, and if applicable, these costs will be handed back down to you. (Please note that the cost for background checks is not covered in scholarship application requests. Background checks must be purchased in order for your application to move forward.)

  3. Once the application, driver’s license, and background check is received a Soldiers of Christ Ordaining Committee member will contact you informing you that your application has been processed and is underway.

  4. Upon approval by the Ordaining Committee, the new Applicant will be transitioned to the position of Apprentice Chaplain for 90 days.  This allows the Apprentice Chaplain time to have access to mentorship and training from a Senior Chaplain. After the 90 day training period and final board approval, the Apprentice Chaplain will be certified through the SOC Ordaining Committee with an official title of “Chaplain.”

  5. The SOC Chaplaincy Program requires all chaplains to complete Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training.  Training modules are provided through the “Chaplain’s Portal” of the ministry website that provide links to our 3rd party recommendations for fulfillment. Choose a program training provider of your choice from this selection.

  6. Due to the varied availability of courses, the time to complete training is 18 months to complete. Some classes are in-seat while others are available online; some are free while others have a cost associated with them. These can be completed during your time as a Chaplain. Upon course completion, all certificates issued will need to be submitted to the SOC Administrator. These course costs are separate from the Chaplaincy Certification with Soldiers of Christ Ministries.

  7. Cost for certification as a Chaplain with Soldiers of Christ Ministries is $264.00 per year or can be payed in installments of $22.00 per month for individual chaplain accounts. For married couples seeking chaplaincy training together there is a family account cost of $360.00 per year; this can also be payed in installments of $30.00 per month.  These accounts can be created by selecting the “Chaplain’s Portal” button below. All Certified and Apprentice Chaplain’s have access to the ministry’s event calendar, training modules, chaplain gear store, and business ordering essentials.

  8. Additional CISM training courses are available to further your training in a field of specialty and will be added to your credentials.  These can also be found through the provided links within the Chaplain’s Portal Training Module. Email scanned copies of your certifications to our SOC Administrator; these will be added to your profile and will further qualify you for consideration as a Senior Chaplain within the ministry.
Note:  Emergency Disaster Response Chaplains require two additional CISM training courses specializing in this field in order to deploy to disaster areas.
